Twelve Gods Nature Observation Education Forest

A virgin forest left in its natural state at the eastern foot of Mt. Junikami in the center of the Shigemo Peninsula. It is a 150 to 300-year-old natural broad-leaved forest that is mainly composed of a colony of Japanese beech and sycamores.It is said to be the most natural forest with a mixture of Japanese oaks, Japanese oaks, and giant Japanese zelkova and horse chestnut trees over 1 meter in diameter. The forest is home to many plants and animals. There is a giant zelkova tree that has been selected as one of the ``Top 100 Forest Giants,'' and it has also been selected as one of the ``Top 100 Forests for Forest Bathing.'' There are minimal camping facilities.

Yakushigawa mountain stream

Many yamame trout and char live in the mountain stream, which stretches for about 10km from its confluence with the Oguni River. Approximately 10km up from the confluence, there are Taimagura Campsite, Bungalow Village, and Hayachine Mountain Villa, making it a base camp for fishing fans. Furthermore, 10km further on is the Odakoshi Pass, which is 1,200m above sea level and serves as the starting point for Mt. Hayachine (1,917m above sea level).

Nagasawa river cherry blossoms

An embankment (park) built on the right bank of the Nagasawa River as part of a specific river environment improvement project. A total of 294 cherry trees, including 219 Yoshino cherry trees, 35 Oyama cherry trees, 36 double cherry trees, and 4 mountain cherry trees, have been planted in an area of ​​2.5 hectares, making it a new cherry blossom viewing spot in Miyako. Someiyoshino cherry trees are in full bloom from mid-April to late April. In addition, azaleas and azaleas have been planted, making it a place of relaxation for citizens with beautiful flowers blooming from spring to summer. In April 1995, a monument with a poem written by Shigenobu Shigenobu, the 29th lord of the Nanbu domain, was erected on the Sakura embankment.
