Himegamiyama

Mount Himegami, which stands opposite Mt. Iwate, is 1123.8m above sea level. The beautiful triangular shape of the mountain with its gentle slopes catches the eye. A mountain opening event will be held on the third Sunday of May at a famous spot for lily of the valley. The most popular way to climb the mountain is the Ipponsugi Course, which weaves through a white birch forest while admiring the alpine plants.It takes about an hour and a half to reach the top. The view is outstanding, and you can see the skyline of Mt. Iwate, Mt. Hayachine, and the mountains bordering Akita Prefecture.

Morioka Weeping Cherry (National Natural Monument)

This is a temple (Kitayama Ryukokuji) where Takuboku's maternal uncle was the chief priest from 1890 to 1880. It is said that Takuboku often visited here as a boy and received lessons in poetry. The precincts also contain the Morioka weeping cherry tree, a national natural monument, which is a sight to behold in the spring. Flowering period: Late April to early May

Iwayama Observation Deck

From the top of the rocky mountain at an altitude of 340.5 meters to the east of the city, you can see the entire city, the mountain range centered around Mt. Iwate, and the flow of the Kitakami River.
