A Jishu temple founded in 1280. It is said that it was founded by Michitsugu, the eldest son of Michishige Kono, the lord of Terabayashi Castle, who later became a devotee of Ippen Shonin, the founder of Jishu Buddhism, and with his cooperation established the Nenbutsu dojo. Many important documents are stored in the treasury. In the beautiful garden, a huge oak tree stands out.

Enjoji Gate

This gate was originally made from the materials used for the main gate of Waga Futago Castle. Around 1614, the then lord of Hanamaki Castle, Nanbu Hikokuro Masanao, was working on constructing Hanamaki Castle, and he salvaged the materials and used the Sannomaru Karame handiwork. It was relocated to Enjoji-zaka, where it was originally located, and is called Enjoji-mon. It has been designated as a cultural property by the city.

Hu Shio Shrine

It is said to have its origins in the Enryaku era (end of the 8th century) when Sakanoue no Tamuramaro enshrined Yakushi Nyorai when he headed to pacify Ezo. Although it temporarily declined due to a fire during the Tenbun era (half of the 16th century), it was a highly prestigious shrine that was revered from generation to generation during the Nanbu clan period and was given a shrine territory. In 1818, the principal image was changed from Yakushi Nyorai to Shonahiko no Mikoto, the great god of medicine, and it remains to this day.

Toriyazaki Shrine

Rebuilt in 1313, there were three castle guardian shrines within Toriyazaki Castle, but in 1536, the castle lord at the time (ancestor of the Hidenuki clan) merged them and created Toriyazakiza Sanhashira Shrine. It was renamed. During the Keicho period (around 1600), Kitamatsusai, the lord of Hanamaki Castle, prayed to the main shrine at the start of the war and won the war, so he built a new shrine and held a grand festival during the annual festival, inviting the people of the county to take a break from work to worship. .
