Shibumin Park (No. 1 Takuboku Poetry Monument)

Kitakami River

The total length is 250km from the water source in the north of the prefecture to Oiwa Bay, Kitakami Town, Miyagi Prefecture. The 5th largest river in the country. It is the mother river of Iwate. The Kitakami River and the beautiful Mt. Iwate are one of Morioka's most representative landscapes. Viewpoints include Kaiun Bridge, Asahi Bridge, and Yugao Se Bridge, and colorful flowers decorate the shore.

Ishikawa Takuboku Poetry Monument (Morioka Castle Ruins Park (Iwate Park))

In the Morioka Castle Ruins Park, there is a monument with the famous poem ``Fifteen Hearts Lying on the Grass of the Unwanted Castle, Breathing in the Sky.'' Morioka Castle's Ninomaru is where Takuboku escaped from his school window as a boy, read literary and philosophical books, and ended his daydreams. The text on the monument is written by Kyosuke Kindaichi.

Kenji Miyazawa poem monument (inside Morioka High School)

``To all the students, don't you feel the clear, clean wind blowing from this dashing realm of your future?'' The Morioka Daiichi High School where this monument stands is Morioka Junior High School, where Kenji once studied. Taking a break from the stuffy old family where he was born and raised, living in a dormitory, and hanging out with friends of his own generation brought Kenji a great sense of freedom. While attending school, I walked in the nearby mountains and became familiar with many books. Takuboku Ishikawa is ten years my senior at Morioka Junior High School.
