Shiwa Rose Garden

Three minutes by car from Roadside Station Shiwa, the rose garden spreads out on a hillside overlooking the majestic Mount Iwate to the north and the vineyards and rice fields of the Akazawa district to the south. The rose garden is planted with more than 1,500 fragrant roses of about 610 varieties, which are rare in Japan. The Rose Festival held twice a year (from early June to mid-July and from early September to late October) attracts many visitors every day from inside and outside of the prefecture. Enjoy a moment of elegance surrounded by the fragrance of roses in a special exotic space reminiscent of the South of France. Funakubo Cave

This is Yokoana limestone cave, which is designated as a historic site by the prefecture. Inside the cave, there is a hall of about 50 square meters, and there are remains of Jomon period dwellings, including beautiful stalactites, earthenware, and stone tools.

Shigari Wake Shrine

Nicknamed Akaishi-san since ancient times, he has been widely revered as the guardian deity of industrial prosperity, river and maritime safety, and traffic safety. A large red stone that is said to be the origin of the word Shiwa Town is enshrined in the temple grounds. The approach to the shrine is lined with large cherry trees, and among them is the 700-year-old matchmaking cherry tree, the Minami-no-zakura, which attracts a large number of visitors in the spring.
