Toriyagasaki Park

Gindoro Park

Gindoro is a silvery white tree with white undersides of the leaves. This park is the former site of Hanamaki Agricultural School, where Kenji was a teacher, and many gingko trees, which Kenji loved, are planted there. Inside the park, there is a poem monument inscribed with a line from Kenji's ``Early Spring,'' and there is also a group of stone statues of ``Kaze no Matasaburo'' (a work that won the first Outdoor Sculpture Award by Sapporo poet Arata Hongo). Many Kenji fans come here.

Mukoyama Forest Park

Mukoyama, which rises to the south of the town center, was developed as a forest park and completed in 1998. At the top, there is a monument to Gongen-sama with the motif of Hayachine Kagura, which is representative of Osako Town, as well as an observation deck. You can drive up to the observation deck that offers a panoramic view of Osako's townscape, but you can also climb over 600 stone steps from the foot of the mountain.

Totsukamori Forest Park

About 10 minutes by car east from Ishidoridani Station is the lush Totsukamori Forest Park. There are facilities perfect for outdoor activities, including a playground, bungalows, and a campground, so you can enjoy nature from spring to autumn.
