Irihata Dam

A multipurpose dam built on the Natsuaburawa River in 1990. Embankment height is 80m, embankment head length is 233m. An observation deck plaza (430m above sea level) was built around the dam lake, and it was named "Onigake Daira" through a public contest. There is a monument with a poem by Kenji Miyazawa, and it is lit up every Saturday night from July to August. The surface of the lake changes its appearance with the seasons, but it is especially beautiful during the seasons of fresh greenery (May to June) and autumn leaves (around mid-October). Best time to see autumn leaves: Mid-October to early November

Takuboku newlywed house

This is the house where the newlywed Takuboku lived for about three weeks starting in 1903, and is the only remaining samurai residence in Morioka. He wrote about this time in his essay ``My four and a half tatami mats''.

Michinoku Folk Village

One of the largest open-air museums in Tohoku, located within Tenshochi Park. This is an open-air museum where you can experience the life of our ancestors while restoring and preserving old folk houses and historical buildings in the Kitakami River basin. Please enjoy the atmosphere of each season.

Oni’s mansion

This is a themed museum that was established as a place to collect, research, and learn about various things related to demons. In Iwasaki, the birthplace of Oni Kenbu, we collect and display materials related to Oni, such as biographies, picture scrolls, and masks that have been passed down throughout Japan since ancient times. It brings to light the multifaceted existence of demons who have lived in the darkness, and asks us once again what demons are.
