Morioka City Central Community Center Former Nanbu Clan Villa Garden

The garden at the Morioka City Central Community Center was started in 1669 during the reign of Shigenobu Nanbu, the fourth lord of the Morioka domain, to cultivate medicinal herbs for use in the castle. It was called "Oyakuen". Nowadays, it is crowded with many tourists as a famous spot for autumn leaves.

Ishikawa Takuboku poem monument (Shimobashi Junior High School playground)

A monument to Takuboku's poems in the schoolyard of Takuboku's alma mater, Morioka High School (currently Shimohashi Junior High School). Kyosuke Kindaichi, who was Takuboku's second-year senior and had a close friendship with him from his childhood until his later years, wrote Takuboku's song in later years, and it was erected in the fall of 1972 by former staff volunteers. “Once upon a time, I threw a ball on the roof of an elementary school, and how it turned out.”

Morioka Machiya Story Museum

Morioka Machiya Monogatari Museum opened in July 2014 with the concept of ``encountering nostalgic bustle.'' As a lively and nostalgic place for relaxation that is easy for everyone to use, it also serves as a local information center and a place to disseminate information on local culture. As a new regional core facility, we are working together with the citizens to operate it. In addition, we will take advantage of the five functions of this facility: ``interact,'' ``see,'' ``experience,'' ``eat,'' and ``buy.'' We aim to preserve and disseminate not only the charm of our facilities, but also the many fascinating lifestyle cultures of the Katayacho area as resources.
