Seki no Ichi Sake Brewery

The Ichinoseki region is blessed with abundant water from the Kitakami Mountains and the Ou Mountains, as well as rice cultivation. The sake is brewed with water nurtured by this land and carefully selected rice, using the secret techniques and love of the Nanbu Touji. Sake Folk Culture Museum

Seki no Ichi Sake Brewery was named by Emperor Meiji's younger brother, Prince Kanin, who said, ``Make good sake that will please the people of the world.'' The ``Sake Folk Culture Museum'' inside is made up of valuable earthen storehouses that still retain traces of the time of its founding. The two-story wooden storehouse is the largest in Tohoku. Inside, some of the over 1,600 sake-making tools are on display. You can also see the brewer's room, which enshrines Matsuo Daimyojin, the god of sake, and materials related to the production of rice, which is essential for sake. In 2006, the ``Ichinoseki Literature Storehouse'' was opened to honor 12 writers associated with Ichinoseki.
