Koenji Temple. Kouenji. Rare plants such as Koya Maki, weeping red pine, and metasequoia live within the precincts.
At the lotus pond, from late July to late August, in addition to the Oga lotus, about 1,000 lotuses of four different types, including white lotus and yellow lotus (Komaihi and Izumi Yellowtsuru) bloom.

Sannoumi Dam

The dam is located upstream of the Takinagawa River and is a scenic spot with fresh greenery in the spring and autumn leaves in the fall.With a storage capacity of approximately 38.4 million tons, it is the largest agricultural rockfill dam in Japan. In addition, it is a "parent-child dam" connected by two tunnels to the neighboring Kuzumaru Dam (water storage capacity of 5 million tons) in Ishidoriya-cho, Hanamaki City. It moistens the rice fields. Open to the public (May to November) 2nd Saturday and 3rd Wednesday 9:00-noon

Yamaya’s skunk cabbage

The skunk cabbage in the Yamaya district in the northeast of Shiwa Town is located at an altitude of 250 meters, so it usually blooms later than in the flatlands, from late April to early May. The Yamaya Skunk Cabbage Festival is held in late May when the skunk cabbage blooms.
