Nagasawa River Cherry Blossoms [Miyako City]

Season Usually mid to late April
Features A total of nearly 300 cherry trees, including Yoshino cherry, Oyamazakura, double cherry, and Yamazakura, have been planted on an area of ​​2.5 hectares along the Nagasawa River, making it a new cherry blossom viewing spot.

A single cherry tree in Kamegamori [Miyako City]

Season Usually early to mid-May
Features *For the purpose of restoring the tree’s vigor, dead branches, etc. were removed and pruned, and soil improvement was carried out in the fall of 2019. In the spring of 2021, they bloomed, although the number was small. (*The photo is before pruning.)

Oyamazakura is located in a corner of Kamegamori Pasture at an altitude of 800m. It’s pasture, so cows graze there. It is prohibited to enter the area around the single cherry tree. This is private property, so please enjoy viewing it from a distance.

*Since flower buds are not seen at the tips of the main branches, it seems that flowering cannot be expected as before. (as of R5.4.28)

Features 2,800 cherry trees were planted in the spring of 1930 in the Totan area. The main attraction is the row of cherry blossom trees in Hongo, and during the Amaterasu Miso Shrine Festival held once every three years, a procession of feudal lords parades beneath the cherry blossoms.
