A monument to Takuboku's poems in the schoolyard of Takuboku's alma mater, Morioka High School (currently Shimohashi Junior High School). Imadeyama

Daijiji Temple

Chusonji Temple [World Heritage Site]

Tendai sect, Tohoku Daihonzan. The name of the mountain is Kanzan, and Jikaku Daishi is the founder of the mountain. At the beginning of the 12th century, the first Lord Kiyohira of the Oshu Fujiwara clan built many temples and pagodas, including the Tahoto and Nikai Daido. Its purpose was to comfort the spirits of those who died in the long wars of the First Nine Years War and the Second Third Year War, and to build a Buddhist nation. Unfortunately, the hall and pagoda were destroyed by fire in the 14th century, but it is still a treasure trove of Heian art, containing over 3,000 national treasures and important cultural properties, including the Kaneiroki Hall.

Higashineyama

This mountain (928.4 m above sea level) is located to the west of Shiwa Town, about 15 km south of Morioka City, and is the southernmost mountain (928.4 m above sea level) of the Shiba Sanzan, which is connected to Mt. Namsho (about 848 m high) and Hakogamori (about 866 m high). The view from near the top of the mountain and the beech and oak trees are spectacular, and the mountain is loved by many people as a place where you can enjoy watching the Japanese katakuri in spring. Tenshoji Rest House

The Tenshochi Rest House is designed in the image of a rice storehouse from the era of boat transport, overlooking the confluence of the Kitakami and Waga rivers. Since our founding, we have been making ``Tenshojimochi'' every morning with a mortar, appreciating the variety of ingredients from the Kitakami region and valuing the wisdom of our ancestors called Shindo Fuji. The store sells products mainly from within the prefecture, souvenirs, and a restaurant.

Moriokashidare at Ryukokuji Temple (National Natural Monument)

Takuboku Ishikawa's maternal uncle was the temple's chief priest from 1890 to 1898, and it is said that Takuboku often visited here as a boy and received instruction in poetry. Within the precincts is the national natural monument, the Moriokashidare, which is a sight to behold in the spring.
