Kitakami City Museum (main building)

Reopened in September 2016. In addition to introducing the charm of Kunimiyama Abandoned Temple, which was a center of Buddhist culture prior to Hiraizumi, it also provides detailed explanations of six historical themes that are essential when talking about Kitakami.

History and Folklore Museum/Hall of History and Folklore

The History and Folklore Museum and the History and Folklore Museum are connected by a corridor, and the Folklore Museum has information on ``Nature and history of Karumai Town,'' ``Farming methods and horse production that supported daily life,'' ``The iron industry that pioneered the era,'' and ``Festivals and local culture.'' The exhibits are based on four themes: ``Entertainment''. Dargakku Bishamon-do Hall

Even before Kiyohira settled in Hiraizumi, several temples had already been built in and around Hiraizumi. One of them is Saikoji Temple. According to the temple law, when Sakanoue Tamuramaro subdued Ezo, he built Bishamon-do Hall in imitation of Kyoto's Kiyomizu-dera Temple in gratitude for the blessings of Bishamonten, and built 108 Tamonten statues following Kurama-dera Temple. It is said that it began when the shrine was dedicated to The circumstances surrounding Ezo and Tamuramaro have become the subject of many stories and folklore, and they also add color to the temple legends of Saikoji Temple. Bishamondo was destroyed by fire twice, and the current one was rebuilt in 1963.

Pocket Park Fureai Square

It is divided into a relaxing space with benches, an outdoor stage, and play equipment, and a parking space with a bus waiting room and restrooms. The cooling fountain is illuminated at night. Mini concerts and events are held at the lawn park.

Takamori Plateau

Altitude: 668m. It is covered with approximately 500 hectares of vast pastureland, and the contrast between the sparkling sun, the bright green grass, and the blue sky is impressive. The season begins on the first Sunday of June, when the mountains open, and ends at the end of October. Flowers of Aspergillus daisies bloom from the end of May to mid-June, and the area of ​​the colony is about 3 hectares.

Spark Fujisawa

This is an indoor gateball field that can be used all year round and has two official courts (20m x 15m). The clubhouse is made of glass on all sides to provide excellent lighting, and the clubhouse is also equipped with a rest room and restroom, so you can enjoy playing in peace.

Tokurakuji Temple

Tokuraku-ji Temple (Soto sect) was founded in 1558 as a branch temple of Hoko-ji Temple in Nagawa-cho, Aomori Prefecture. The carvings in the transoms of the main hall of this temple (370 in total) are said to be some of the best in Tohoku, and each side is based on a legend or historical fact, and their splendor is astounding. In addition, the seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai and the wooden standing statue of Bodhisattva Wakashi are designated as important cultural properties of the prefecture, and there are many other statues enshrined there as well.

Kubizaki

A huge rocky peak that rises to the east of the Ekiki Peninsula. At its base, white waves are splashing, and it's powerful enough to remind you of the maritime Alps. Kunohe Village Forest Park

Boy Takuboku statue

The area where the statue stands used to be the alley of Morioka Castle's vegetable garden. For Takuboku Ishikawa when he was in junior high school, the footpaths and castle ruins seemed to be a source of poetic sentiment. The Takuboku statue by Takashi Honda perfectly depicts the earnest figure of a young boy standing in the harsh north wind, filled with hope. The pedestal is engraved with a line from the collection of poems ``Sad Toys.'' ``I believe in the coming of a new tomorrow, but there are no lies in my words.''

Kenji Miyazawa Ihatovkan

It is also home to the headquarters of the Miyazawa Kenji Society Ihatov Center, a gathering of enthusiasts and researchers of Kenji's works.

Toneyama Mitsuto Memorial Museum of Art

In his later years, the painter Mitsuto Toneyama moved his atelier to Kitakami, where he created works full of the dynamism of Onikenbu and Deer Dance. After his death, the atelier donated by his wife remained at the exhibition site as the ``Toneyama Mitsuto Memorial Museum.'' A number of emotional works will move you.
