Hanamaki Tourist Product Center & Japanese Restaurant "Konkontei". We offer a corner of local products from the prefecture and local cuisine such as the famous Wanko Soba. Hanamaki's traditional pickles ``Konkonzuke'' and ``Aonanban Misokko Cucumber'' are popular souvenirs.

Azuma family

On November 24, 2020, our newly renovated main store opened! Founded in the 40th year of Meiji. As a friendly soba restaurant for the common people, this restaurant has been running for five generations on Nakanohashi-dori (formerly Fukite-cho), which retains the atmosphere of a southern castle town. This is a restaurant where you can enjoy Morioka's specialty "Wanko Soba" and other local dishes such as soba gozen. There is also a large hall, making it convenient for groups. In addition to the main store, there is also a Morioka Inter store .

Galaxy Plaza Yamanekoken

"Ginga Plaza Yamanekoken" is directly opposite Shin-Hanamaki Station. The first floor is a shop stocked with Kenji Miyazawa goods and other local products, and you can also try Wanko Soba at the restaurant on the second floor.

Wanko Soba (Morioka)

"Wanko" is a dialect that refers to a wooden bowl. In areas such as Morioka and Hanamaki, there was a custom of serving soba to entertain guests. The only way to serve freshly boiled food to a large number of customers at once is to serve it in small portions in bowls. This etiquette is said to be the origin of Wanko Soba. The reason why you are forced to refill your plate as soon as you finish eating is a courtesy of hospitality towards guests, which is called ``otebachi.'' ``Wanko Soba'' is a playful dish where the waitstaff throws soba noodles in one after another while shouting ``Hai, Dokkoi. The greeting "Gochisousama" is not understood there. The food is served until the bowl is covered.

Yabuya Hanamaki main store

Founded in 1923, this is a "specialty wanko soba" restaurant. The waiter serves each bowl of wanko soba and stacks the bowls in front of you. 100 bowls is enough for "yokozuna" status (you will be given a certificate and a commemorative book). (You will be given a certificate and a commemorative gift, and there is also a book to keep.) Kenji Miyazawa was a favorite of this restaurant, and it is said that he ordered "Tempura soba and cider" as his favorite dish.
