Cuckoo Dango

*Opening in 2024 is scheduled for around March 10. One of the specialties of Genbikei Gorge is "Kakko-ya's Kakko-Dango. The store is located on the other side of the stream, and when you put money in the basket that hangs from the rope and tap the board with a mallet, the basket is pulled up and the dango you ordered comes down with tea in it instead. It is said that it is because of the many years of experience that the tea in the basket reaches the customer without spilling.

Millet starch syrup

A rustic flavor made by stuffing millet and barley bean sprouts over a period of about two weeks. It also goes great with Nanbu rice crackers.

Kanegaya Ryokan [Tai Onsen]

Opened in 1919. This inn is popular for its seasonal hot springs and simple, calm and homely atmosphere.

Ankoro persimmon

The second generation of Hermano is so skilled that they even opened a store at Iwate Confectionery Expo. The shop is popular for its long-established Japanese sweets as well as stylish cakes made with seasonal fruits. Ankoro persimmons are recommended as souvenirs. The seeds are removed one by one from carefully selected dried persimmons, and carefully filled with paste and yellow bean paste, the whole persimmon is coated with yokan.
