Goishi Kaigan Information Center

Located in front of the Goishikaigan parking lot, we provide tourist information, introduce accommodations, and make arrangements for tourists.

Roadside Station “Sanriku” Sanriku Furusato Bussan Center

The Sanriku Furusato Bussan Center, located in the blessed natural environment of the Sanriku coast along National Route 45, sells not only seafood such as abalone, scallops, sea urchin, and seaweed, but also agricultural products and processed marine products. Japan's first persimmon soft serve ice cream is popular for its rich flavor.

Sankanjima

This is an uninhabited island floating approximately 1 km southeast of the Hakozaki Peninsula, and the entire island is covered in green trees. It has been designated as a national natural monument as a breeding ground for the Great Shearwater and the Common Petrel.

Onikenbai

Many excellent folk performing arts have been handed down in this prefecture, but this demon sword dance is performed in hopes of exorcism of evil spirits, peace in the world, and a good harvest, and is performed by a group of people with brave movements. The anger of expelling evil spirits and the single-mindedness of praying for divine and Buddhist blessings are complemented by the unique costumes and light musical accompaniment that can be adjusted at any speed, making the dance even more appealing and captivating and captivating to the viewers. This demon sword dance can be seen at the Kitakami Michinoku Performing Arts Festival and the Bonfire Performance held at Natsuyu Onsen. Takizawa Forest Park/Nature Center

A vast forest park and a bird-watching forest within it. The natural forest, which is a mix of coniferous and broad-leaved trees, is home to a variety of animals, including the fictive flycatcher, great tit, and squirrel, making it a paradise for creatures. Regular nature observation sessions are held on the third Sunday of every month. Binoculars are available for loan for free, so feel free to participate. Nearby are Iwate Prefectural University, Industrial Culture Center, and Umakko Park Iwate.

Goshono Ruins [World Heritage Site]

On July 27, 2021, "Jomon Sites in Hokkaido and the Northern Tohoku Region," including the Goshono Ruins, were decided to be inscribed on the World Heritage List at the 44th session of the World Heritage Committee (held online). The Goshono Ruins, a large settlement site from the middle Jomon period, is designated by the government. In the park, pit dwellings and stone circles have been reconstructed as they were in those days. At the museum, visitors can learn about the Jomon Period, the Goshono Ruins, and the culture of the area. Ishikawa Takuboku Poetry Monument (Morioka Castle Ruins Park (Iwate Park))

In the Morioka Castle Ruins Park, there is a monument with the famous poem ``Fifteen Hearts Lying on the Grass of the Unwanted Castle, Breathing in the Sky.'' Morioka Castle's Ninomaru is where Takuboku escaped from his school window as a boy, read literary and philosophical books, and ended his daydreams. The text on the monument is written by Kyosuke Kindaichi.
