Toriyazaki Shrine

Rebuilt in 1313, there were three castle guardian shrines within Toriyazaki Castle, but in 1536, the castle lord at the time (ancestor of the Hidenuki clan) merged them and created Toriyazakiza Sanhashira Shrine. It was renamed. During the Keicho period (around 1600), Kitamatsusai, the lord of Hanamaki Castle, prayed to the main shrine at the start of the war and won the war, so he built a new shrine and held a grand festival during the annual festival, inviting the people of the county to take a break from work to worship. .

Nishimikado

In the past, the west gate, which can be called the main gate of Hanamaki Castle's main enclosure, served as a preparation for the main enclosure and as an entrance for the feudal lord and others. Hanamaki Castle was unable to build a castle tower, so old pictures depict the west gate as the castle tower, and the structure is reminiscent of a tower building. The project was started in 1992 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Hanamaki Town, and was completed in 1994.

Kiyomizu temple

It is said to have been commissioned by Sakanoue Tamuramaro in the second year of Daido (807), and is an ancient temple that has been widely known as one of Japan's three Kiyomizu temples since ancient times, along with Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto and Kiyomizu-dera in Hyogo's Kamogawa River. The first temple of Ou 33 Kannon Fudaraku.

Enmanji Kannon Observatory

It is located on the site where Enmanji Kannon-do Hall is built, and is a hill from which you can see a panoramic view of the city. Parking lot and toilets are also available. The road is closed to vehicles during the snowy season.

Yushan Gold Mine Ruins

Tamayama Kanayama has a long history, and it is said that the gold from this mine was used to cast the Great Buddha in Nara, as well as Chuson-ji Temple in Hiraizumi. It is large in scale, with many mine shafts, town ruins, and shrines remaining. There is also a trailhead for Mt. Hikami, where you can see the ocean, mountains, rivers, and Rikuzentakata, which is rich in nature.

Hiratsuka/Hanamaki Exchange Forest

This forest was developed to commemorate the friendship city partnership between Hiratsuka City and Hanamaki City, and is a campground with walkways and waterfront where you can enjoy forest bathing and nature exploration, as well as tent sites and cooking facilities.

During the Kunohe Rebellion in Tensho 19 (1591), Asano Shigekichi, whose family was defending Toriyazaki Castle, left all but 30 men in one group under his command and formed the Hanamaki Doshin-gumi, moving to the castle's Ninomaru Babaguchi Gomon Shimoba. He was given a residence and lived in the area (today's south of Toriyazaki Shrine). It was relocated in March 1980 for preservation purposes, and is a highly valuable building from the late Edo period as a samurai residence in the style of a curved house from the feudal period. It has been designated as a cultural property by the city.
