Hydrangeas at Tendaiji Temple

Tendaiji Temple is an ancient temple with a 1200 year history. When Jakucho went to Tendai-ji as its abbot, he called on people to revive the temple grounds, which had fallen into disrepair after the war when the cedar grove was cut down, and began planting hydrangeas. Now, in early summer, the stone steps along the approach to the temple and the temple grounds are filled with dark purple hydrangeas, adding a noble color to the old temple. Inaniwa Highlands

A grassland that spreads out at the base of Mt. Inaniwa. The path through the virgin beech forest is perfect for forest bathing. A sea of ​​green grass sways in the wind. Cows and horses are grazing leisurely. Such refreshing scenery refreshes both mind and body. Time seems to move slowly here.

Mt. Inaniwa

Inaniwadake is a gentle plateau with an altitude of 1078 meters, and it takes about 40 minutes to walk from the trailhead to the top, making it perfect for hiking. The view from the spacious summit is exceptional, and you can see everything from Mt. Iwate to the Hakkoda Mountain Range. It is possible to climb the mountain in a wheelchair (please inquire).

Joboji lacquerware

Joboji lacquerware began when the monks of Tendaiji invited craftsmen from Kyoto to make fixtures for use at the temple, and has inherited over 1,200 years of history, with Tendaiji culture overlapping. They are made using locally produced lacquer, which boasts the highest quality and quantity in Japan, using a base method called the ``Makiji method.'' It is a solid base with unparalleled strength and does not use water, and is characterized by its simplicity and practicality, with no unnecessary colors or patterns.

Joboji History and Folklore Museum

The exhibits center on lacquerware and lacquer scraping tools from the feudal period, as well as materials related to Tendaiji Temple, as well as stone tools, earthenware, and everyday tools.

gardening workshop

There is a large workshop where you can enjoy viewing seasonal flowers, and there is a wide variety of flowers available throughout the year, which you can also purchase. It is located on the east side of the Ono Campus complex.

Ohno Industrial Design Center

This facility opened in June 1991 to carry out training, research, and production with the aim of creating products that enrich people's lives. There are production facilities such as a wood workshop, an exhibition room for special products including Ohno Woodworking, a restaurant, and an event plaza.

Taneichi is the birthplace of the Southern Divers and has a long history. Taneichi Prefectural High School has the nation's first training course Marine Development Department. Hirono Town Taneichi History and Folklore Museum

The museum exhibits materials on "Nanbu-moguri," a type of moguri that was handed down in Taneichi and is famous throughout Japan. Okaya Inari Shrine

An old shrine with a long history, located in a forest of old trees. The shrine is dedicated to Ukanokotami-no-mikoto, and as one of the leading shrines in Sanriku, it is visited by many worshippers from far and wide. The shrine is especially crowded with worshippers during the annual festival in May. Twill cherry blossom trees

This row of cherry trees is located along a bicycle path between Route 283 and the Sarugaishi River in the Ayaori district. The view of the Sarugaishi River, the rows of cherry trees, and Mt. Man Tetsugoro Memorial Museum of Art

This is a memorial museum of Tetsugoro Man, who left important works in the history of Japanese art such as Fauvism and Cubism, and aimed to create a new and unique art. Adjacent to it is the restored storehouse of the Manke House, with a high-definition museum, a museum shop, and a cafe corner. Built on the ruins of Tsuchizawa Castle.
